Product Info

Q. What is a giclee print?

The giclee prints we publish are printed directly on heavy archival canvas with pigmented inks. The surface is then UV-laminated with a low gloss finish for an average display life of 100+ years under average indoor lighting.

Q. What is a canvas transfer?

Our canvas transfers are made by fusing the printed ink surface of a standard lithograph or serigraph paper print to a 3-mil low gloss UV-laminate material. The paper backing is stripped off and the fused image is pressed onto heavy canvas under heat and pressure. The average display life of a canvas transferred print is 25 years under average indoor lighting.

Q. Are mats available?

Mats are not available, as our prints must be framed like paintings, without mats or glass.

Q. How do I clean the prints?

Our prints can be safely cleaned with glass cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth. Be careful not wet the wood frame, as water can dissolve some antique matte finishes.

Q. How do I hang the framed print?

All prints include a patented hanging system, all necessary hardware and instructions.

Q. What material are the frames made from?

We operate a wood shop and work only with solid wood type frame mouldings. Ornate details are composed of standard compo (a gesso like material) and finished with metal leaf and various lacquers and stains.

Q. Does the print surface have brushstrokes?

Our process is not compatible with acrylic brushstrokes. The high gloss and would defeat the purpose of our non-glare surface. Many of our images are not from original paintings, so adding brushstrokes to the surface for an oil-painted effect would not be appropriate (photos, drawings, watercolors, etc.).
